Our 2013 Chardonnay is an equal blend of the Mount Eden clone from the Regan Vineyards in Corralitos, overlooking Monterey Bay, and Clone 4 from Cooper-Garrod Vineyard in Saratoga. The Mount Eden Clone, harvested on November 8, contributes a delicate, floral character. The Clone 4, harvested September 13th, contributes touches of pineapple and apple. We barrel-fermented this Chardonnay, maintaining 60 degrees, for a slow, fruity fermentation. The wine aged sur-lie in barrel, with agitation, for only six months, resulting in a light oak flavor. Malolactic fermentation ran to completion. The wine was filtered and bottled at 16 months and released at two years, two months.
